Terms of use

The agreement between you and Motily Ltd, the company that builds and runs Motily. Read it alongside the privacy policy.

Welcome

These terms are the agreement between you and Motily Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17507961), whose registered office is Lavender House, Mells, Frome BA11 3QN, United Kingdom, the company that builds and runs Motily. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. Please read them alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your data.

Motily is not medical advice

Motily is a lifestyle and wellbeing tool. It is not a medical device, and it has not been assessed or approved by any medical regulator. Nothing in the app, including your scores, insights, streaks, tips, nutrition guidance, the 74-day Journey, or anything written in Community, is medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

Your scores are estimates built from what you tell us about your habits. They are not a measure of your fertility and cannot tell you whether you can or cannot conceive. When you enter semen analysis results, Motily compares them to published reference ranges for context only. Interpreting a lab report is your clinician's job, not ours.

Always talk to a doctor, urologist, or fertility specialist about your health, especially before changing medication, starting supplements, or acting on anything you read in Motily. Never delay or ignore professional advice because of something in this app. If you think you have a medical emergency, contact your local emergency services straight away.

Who can use Motily

You must be at least 18 years old to use Motily. By creating an account, you confirm that you are. Motily is built around male fertility and the lifestyle factors that may affect sperm health, but anyone 18 or over is welcome to use it.

Your account

You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details safe and for everything that happens under your account. Please tell us straight away at hello@motily.app if you think someone else has accessed it.

Motily works best when what you log is honest and accurate, and you are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter. One account per person, please. You can log out or delete your account at any time from the Profile tab. Deleting your account is permanent.

Using Motily responsibly

Do not use Motily to break the law, to harm or harass anyone, or to interfere with the app or other people's use of it. Do not try to access other users' data, work around our security, reverse engineer the app, or use automated tools to scrape or flood it. We may suspend or close accounts that do any of these things.

Community rules

Community is a peer-support space where everyone posts under a generated pseudonym. To keep it safe and useful: be kind and respectful; share your experience rather than stating medical claims as fact; do not give or ask for specific medical instructions, especially about prescription drugs, testosterone, or steroids; no harassment, bullying, or hate; no spam, advertising, or selling; no sexually explicit images; and do not post personal details that could identify you or anyone else. The same rules apply to the handle you choose, to crew names, and to nudges you send in the Team tab.

You keep ownership of what you post, and you give us permission to store it and show it to other users for as long as it is live. You can delete your own posts and replies at any time. You are responsible for what you post, and you agree not to post anything you do not have the right to share.

Community content is written by other users, not by us. We do not check it for accuracy, and we are not responsible for it. Treat it as one person's experience, never as advice.

How moderation works

Before a post or reply is published, its text and any attached photo are automatically screened by the OpenAI Moderation API. If the screening flags it, or if the screening service cannot be reached, the post is rejected and not published. A handle you choose, a crew name, and any custom nudge line you write are screened the same way before they are saved. We keep a short record of rejected content so we can spot patterns.

Anyone can report a post or reply. Once three different people have reported the same item, it is hidden automatically until we have reviewed it. We may also remove content, hide it, or restrict or close an account at our discretion if we believe these rules have been broken. Posting is rate-limited to discourage spam.

We are a very small team, so review is not instant. If you believe something was hidden or rejected by mistake, email hello@motily.app.

Tests and other third-party products

Motily measures nothing itself. Where we link to a test made by someone else, we label it, and some of those links earn us a commission. For example, the Analysis tab links to a home sperm test kit sold by ExSeed Health. Motily also lists other products from other companies that relate to the topics it covers. We do not make, sell, ship, or support any of them. Tapping a product opens the seller's own website, and any purchase you make is a contract between you and that seller, on their terms. Nothing in the app is unlocked by buying.

Some links may be affiliate links, meaning we could earn a small commission if you buy after tapping them, at no extra cost to you. We choose what to list in good faith, but we do not test these products, and we make no promises about their quality, safety, or effect on your fertility. Supplements in particular can interact with medication, so check with a healthcare professional before taking any.

Apple Health and reminders

Connecting Apple Health is optional. If you connect it, Motily reads your sleep and workout data only to prefill your daily check-in, and you can always overwrite what it suggests. Reminders are scheduled on your device and depend on your phone's notification settings, so we cannot guarantee they will always fire.

Premium

Motily has a free plan and Premium. Premium is sold through the App Store in two ways: a monthly auto-renewing subscription, and a one-off lifetime purchase. The Premium screen shows what Premium includes and each price in your local currency before you buy, and your Apple ID is charged when you confirm the purchase.

Monthly subscription. The subscription renews automatically each month unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your Apple ID is charged for the next month within the 24 hours before the period ends. You can cancel at any time in your iPhone's Settings (tap your name, then Subscriptions), or from Profile, then Motily Premium, then Manage subscription. When you cancel, Premium stays on until the end of the period you have paid for.

Free trial. The first time you subscribe to the monthly plan you may be offered a free trial, shown on the Premium screen with its length and the date the first charge is due. If you do not cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the monthly price is charged to your Apple ID when it ends and the subscription then renews each month as above. You can cancel during the trial in the same places, and you are not charged. The trial is offered once per Apple ID, and Apple decides who is eligible.

Lifetime. The lifetime purchase is a single payment that unlocks Premium on your account with no end date. It is not a subscription: nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel. Buying lifetime does not cancel a monthly subscription you already have, so cancel that in Settings to avoid being charged again. If a lifetime purchase is refunded, Premium is switched off.

Refunds for both are handled by Apple under its own policies. Use Restore purchases on the Premium screen or in Profile to bring a purchase back after reinstalling, or on a new iPhone signed in to the same Apple ID. Your use of the App Store is also covered by Apple's standard licence terms for apps.

Google Play (Android). On Android, Premium is sold through Google Play instead, with the same two options, and your Google Play account is charged when you confirm the purchase. The monthly subscription renews automatically each month until you cancel it. You can cancel at any time in Google Play (in the Play Store app, tap your profile picture, then Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions), or from Profile, then Motily Premium, then Manage subscription; cancelling stops the next charge, and Premium stays on until the end of the period you have paid for. If you are offered a free trial, the Premium screen shows its length and the date the first charge is due: cancel before then and you are not charged, otherwise the monthly price is charged when the trial ends. Google decides who is eligible for the trial. Refunds of Google Play purchases are handled by Google under its own policies, and a refunded purchase switches Premium off. Restore purchases brings a purchase back on a phone signed in to the same Google account.

Premium works on your Motily account on both iPhone and Android, whichever store you bought it from, but a subscription can only be changed or cancelled in the store that bills it.

If you received Premium free during our launch period, you keep it at no charge and there is nothing to cancel. Everything you have logged stays yours whichever plan you are on.

Our content

Motily, including its design, artwork, the Remy character, text, and code, belongs to Motily Ltd or our licensors. You may use it for your own personal, non-commercial use as part of the app, and not otherwise without our written permission.

Availability and changes

We work hard to keep Motily running, but we cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors, and we may change, pause, or withdraw features at any time. If we ever plan to shut Motily down, we will give you reasonable notice so you can export or delete your data.

Our liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded under the law of England and Wales. Nothing in these terms affects your rights as a consumer.

Subject to that, Motily is provided as it is. We are not liable for any loss or harm that comes from relying on the app in place of professional medical advice, from decisions you make based on your scores or on Community content, from third-party products or websites, or from anything outside our reasonable control. Our total liability to you for anything arising from your use of Motily is limited to the greater of £100 and the amount you have paid for Premium in the 12 months before the claim.

Ending this agreement

You can end it at any time by deleting your account. We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, and we will tell you why unless the law prevents us. Sections that by their nature should survive, such as the liability section, continue to apply after your account is closed.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring a claim in your local courts.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top, and for significant changes we will tell you in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Motily after that means you accept the updated terms. The current version is always available in Profile, under Help, then Legal.
